Chitra Rao Triumphantly, a young woman from Karnataka’s Ramanagara rode a whopping 3,676 kilometres solo on a bike to Kashmir aimed to create awareness of the increased number of people in old-age homes.

The brave biker’s epic journey began on August 27th in the southernmost tip of India, Kanyakumari, and concluded in the picturesque Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar.

Chitra Rao, 24, while talking with Onlykashmir[dot]in “It took me some time to convince my parents – they were worried and any parents would be. I selected the best route after deliberating with my biker buddies. I covered almost 10 states during my journey to Kashmir”

“People are very nice here. Before coming to Kashmir, I was worried but I find people are very helpful and I would like to thank Kashmiri people,” she added.

“My mother has been running an old-age home for 15 years,” Chitra, sitting on her black Royal Enfield Himalayan, said. “I have seen the pain of the residents and hence decided to do this [to raise awareness].”

Dr. Farhana Asgar (JKAS), the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) of Srinagar, as a mark to recognize Chitra’s remarkable achievement welcomed later in Srinagar.
