The death of neonates is common in Kashmir, despite the fact that in every nook and corner we have ‘specialized’ maternity hospitals and ‘veteran’ gynecologists.

In a fresh-of-its-kind case, a neonate died in mother’s womb just because of the negligence of Kashmir Valley’s prominent gynecologist Dr Shahida Mir at Ramzana hospital Srinagar.

A Kashmir based newsgathering agency Kashmir News Observer quoting the affected family stated that the wife of Sajid Zargar noticed less movement of baby in her womb following which they visited Ramzana hospital where they were asked to go for delivery at earliest by the present staffers because the situation of the baby was very critical.

The family immediately called Dr. Shaida Mir on phone to plead her for conducting surgery, who surprisingly denied stating the reason that surgery cannot be conduct in the 35th week of pregnancy.

“She asked to administer a steroid injection to the patient on June 20. However, on the intervening night of June 20-21, the junior doctors on duty who were monitoring fetal rate on hourly basis found zero fetal rate of the baby and later declared that baby was dead.

Aimed at to know the Doctor’s version on the incident, the above-stated news agency contacted the doctor repeatedly, but the renowned, prominent and veteran doctor seems to busy in her work.

As of now, the family is reeling under deep stress and agony due to the incident, today they are knocking on the doors of every media house in Kashmir to thwart any possible such incident in the future with any other family.
