Dispute between committee members leads to closure of a mosque in Srinagar

The locals have appealed to Muftis and Religious clerics of Kashmir to come forward and impress the committee members so as to reopen the mosque.

Mosques are considered hearts of the Islamic life, they serve for prayers, for events especially in holiest month Ramadan, contrary to this, Masjid Abu Hanifa situated at Thokar Mohalla, Kani Pora in outskirts of Muslim dominated Srinagar is locked for almost three months.

According to the locals, the dispute among the Masjid committee members over some administrational issues leads to locking of the main door of the mosque. On the 3rd day of Ramadan (15 April 2021), the argument between both sides heated up which resulted in locking the mosque.

A local resident pleading anonymity told Onlykashmir[dot]in that the dispute made an ugly turn when both the parties after a heated argument agreed to lock the main door of the mosque, followed by a police complaint.

The locals said that almost 200-300 people would assemble in Masjid on Friday congregational prayers.

The locals have appealed to Muftis and Religious clerics of Kashmir to come forward and impress the committee members so as to reopen the mosque.
