Primary Health Centre in Budgam poses threat to patients and locals

Srinagar, Jan 08 (KNB): With presence of garbage dumping site inside its premises, the Primary Health Center in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district is posing a major threat not only the patients visiting there but also the residents residing around the building.
The Primary Health Center situated in Kani Pora, Mengen Waji, Budgam has become a major threat for the patients visiting for general check up and immunization of children in particular. According to the locals the premises of the health center has been used as garbage dumping site which emanates a pungent smell causing inconvenience to locals, patients and attendants.

With staff strength of three persons including a sweeper the situation of the Primary Health Center is horrible with presence of a large number of stray dogs around the garbage piles inside the premises of health centre.
“The situation is horrible. We had taken up the matter with hospital authorities, however they preffered to turn a deaf ear to such requests. The unattended garbage is emanating pungent smell posing threat of infection to patients as well as locals,” said Gulzar Ahmad, a local while talking to KNB.
“The presence of garbage has is major cause of the miseries we face day in and day out the authorities should take action against this menace,” Gulzar added.



When KNB correspondent took up the matter with Chief Medical Officer Budgam Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Dar, he asked to contact BMO Nagam who denied commenting saying that the Primary Health Centre falls in Chattargam jurisdiction. (KNB)
