Three militants killed in Budgam’s Chadoora village

Budgam, Jan 08 (KNB): Three militants among two foreigners were killed in an encounter with government forces in Chadoora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday, a police spokesman said here, adding, two of them are foreigners while other one was identified as Firdous Ahmad Mir of Pulwama.
The spokesman said that forces launched a cordon and search operation in Bachinaad area of Patrigam village after inputs about the presence of militants. As the searches were being conducted, the militants hiding in the village opened fire on the forces, triggering off a gunfight resulting the killing of three militants.
Meanwhile authorities suspended the mobile Internet service in Budgam district to prevent spreading of rumours.
The reports reaching KNB said, the shopkeepers in Village downed their shutters after CRPF troopers from Nagam heading towards the gunfight site in Patrigam resorted to aerial firing and teargas shelling in Chadoora market.
Pertinently, this is the first encounter in 2018 following three militants were killed in Lethpora Encounter on 31 Dec last year. On 31 Dec 2017 militant carried out a Fidayeen attack at Lethpora killing 5 CRPF personnel, the three slain militants, two were identified as locals while one was described foreign by the security agencies.
