Srinagar, May 26: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), J&K, organized a series of inter-school sports competitions across various zones including Marwah, Inderwal, Kishtwar, and others, as part of its annual sports calendar under the guidance of Director General Rajinder Singh Tara.
Events in Zone Inderwal featured Kabaddi, Volleyball, Kho-Kho, Carrom, and Chess for U-14 and U-17 boys. Zone Kishtwar hosted U-17 Boys Football, while Marwah conducted Chess, Carrom, and Tug of War.
Selected players will advance to inter-zonal district-level competitions. Meanwhile, events at M.A. Stadium Jammu included Football, Badminton, Table Tennis, Yoga, and Gymnastics for U-14 & U-17 categories. Over 250 students participated, with officials urging youth to stay drug-free and embrace fitness.
District-level Table Tennis matches for U-14 and U-17 Boys and Girls began in Poonch, while Ramban hosted U-17 Girls Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, and Cricket at District Police Lines.
In Budgam, zones held Badminton, Volleyball, and Kabaddi events. Zone Hardpanzoo began its tournament with a “Nasha Mukt Bharat” pledge. Zone Sumbal (Bandipora) organized U-14 Boys Kabaddi with 140 participants.
The initiative aims to foster discipline, leadership, and healthy lifestyles among youth through structured sports activities.
