Srinagar: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, while addressing the foundation-laying ceremony of a new guest house at the Hazratbal Shrine on Saturday, referred to Surah An-Nisa and the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), stating that Islam is a religion of peace, brotherhood, and unity.

LG Sinha said: “One of the names of Allah is ‘Arsalan,’ which means peace and safety. The Holy Prophet (PBUH) repeatedly emphasized that the path to Allah lies through peace. Paradise is called ‘Dar-us-Salam’—the abode of peace. Jammu and Kashmir has always been a Dar-us-Salam.”

He added that some elements have left no stone unturned to destroy this peace, and we all know who they are. The time has come to hold them accountable for their sins.

Referring to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, LG Sinha said it wounded the very soul of India. “The attackers asked the victims about their religion—it was a heinous attempt to destroy the spirit of Kashmiriyat,” he said.

He revealed that within just 23 minutes, Indian forces had destroyed nine terrorist camps. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear that any kind of terrorism against India will be treated as war and responded to with full force. This time, the terrorists have been taught a strong lesson,” he said.

LG Sinha said: “The people of Jammu and Kashmir expressed their anger against the attack by coming out onto the streets in unity. The whole world saw a new face of Kashmir—resolute, courageous, and deeply opposed to terrorism and its supporters.”

He further said there is no place for terrorism on this sacred land where pilgrims visit Baba Amarnath and Mata Vaishno Devi.

LG Sinha stated that since independence, Pakistan has tried every possible tactic to disrupt peace in Jammu and Kashmir. “From sending tribal raiders in 1947 to the present day, terrorism has remained their state policy.”

He added: “The people of Pakistan are deprived of basic amenities, their leaders are roaming around with begging bowls, yet they continue to fund terrorism in India.”

LG Sinha said: “Just as the people of Kashmir exposed Pakistan’s face to the world, it is now time to expose those among us who support terrorism. They should face the same punishment as the terrorists themselves.”

He condemned certain statements that fuel sectarian tensions, saying: “It is unfortunate that some people talk of state-sponsored attacks. Such statements create problems and strengthen the hands of disruptive forces.”

Without naming anyone, LG Sinha said: “Those who hold or have held important positions should refrain from making statements that divide the public. Such rhetoric only emboldens elements that seek to spread discord.”

He revealed that in a meeting with hotel owners before the Pahalgam attack, he had said: “Charging ₹50,000 for a room worth ₹10,000 is not only wrong but unethical. The Almighty is watching everything—how long will He tolerate it?”

LG Sinha said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jammu and Kashmir has seen significant progress in peace, development, and tourism over the past five years. “The youth of Kashmir were moving towards prosperity. The goal of the Pahalgam attack was to derail this progress—but we will not allow it to succeed.”

In conclusion, he said: “Peace is essential for development. Let us unite to eliminate terrorism and its supporters. This is not just the responsibility of the security forces but of the people too. Don’t remain silent spectators—play your part.”
