Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday visited Poonch and met families who lost loved ones in recent unprovoked Pakistani shelling.
He announced a government job for the closest kin of each victim and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to their rehabilitation.
“The affected families are our top priority. Ex-gratia relief has been given, and all further assistance will be ensured,” LG Sinha said, adding that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, efforts are being scaled up to build bunkers and improve border security.
He condemned Pakistan for targeting religious sites, including a gurudwara, temple, and mosque, and praised Poonch residents, especially the Sikh community, for their unity and courage.
The LG also visited shelling-affected areas, reviewed the situation with senior officials, and directed immediate restoration of essential services, assessment of further needs, and strengthening of civil defence.
