The Muslim community in Ajmer staged a peaceful sit-in protest today at the Dargah office of Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (R.A.), which operates under the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, demanding the immediate removal of Assistant Nazim Mohd Adil over serious allegations of criminal, moral, and financial misconduct.

The protest follows a memorandum submitted on May 13 to Dargah Nazim Mr. Bilal Khan, listing demands for independent investigations into Adil’s appointment, financial irregularities in Dargah projects, misuse of funds in madrasas and schools, and lack of transparency in key expenditures, including the ₹71 lakh spent during the 813th Urs.

Public anger intensified after Adil allegedly failed to assist victims during the May 1 Hotel Naaz fire tragedy near the Dargah. Two FIRs (No. 228/2021 and 407/2023) are already registered against him, and multiple female staff members of Khwaja Model School have accused him of harassment, yet no official action has been taken.

Today’s dharna was attended by prominent community leaders including Syed Aslam Chishty, Syed Danish Chishty, Advocate Iftikhar Siddiqui, Mukhtar Ahmed Nawab, Syed Hasan Chishty, Humayun Khan, and others, who stressed that their movement aims to protect the sanctity and integrity of the Dargah Sharif, not to politicize the issue.
