Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the nation via videoconference, highlighting India’s strength and restraint in recent events. Saluting the armed forces, intelligence agencies, and scientists, he praised the bravery shown during Operation Sindoor, dedicating their valor to the nation’s women.
Condemning the Pahalgam terrorist attack, where civilians were brutally killed after being questioned about their faith, he emphasized national unity against terrorism. He stated the armed forces had full freedom to act and warned terror groups of severe consequences, especially for targeting Indian women’s dignity.
He described Operation Sindoor as a fulfillment of India’s pledge to justice, noting how Indian forces launched precise strikes on terrorist hubs in Pakistan, including Bahawalpur and Muridke, known for their links to global terror. Over 100 terrorists, including key figures, were eliminated, dealing a severe blow to terrorist morale.
Shri Modi detailed how Pakistan, frustrated by India’s counterattacks, targeted civilian areas and military bases, only to face the superiority of India’s air defense. Indian strikes devastated Pakistani airbases, forcing Pakistan to seek de-escalation by May 10 after suffering heavy losses. Pakistan promised to cease terror activities, leading India to temporarily suspend operations while continuing to monitor developments.
The Prime Minister declared Operation Sindoor as a new benchmark in India’s counter-terrorism strategy, based on three pillars: Decisive Retaliation, No Tolerance for Nuclear Blackmail, and No Distinction Between Terrorists and Their Sponsors. He pointed to Pakistan’s military ties with terrorists as evidence of state-sponsored terror.
Highlighting India’s excellence in traditional and new-age warfare, he celebrated the proven effectiveness of Made-in-India defense equipment during the operations.
Stressing that unity is India’s greatest strength, he declared that while this era is not for war, it cannot tolerate terrorism. He reiterated India’s firm stance: no talks or trade with Pakistan until terrorism ends, and discussions will only focus on Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
On Buddha Purnima, Shri Modi invoked Lord Buddha’s teachings, emphasizing that peace must be protected through strength. Concluding, he saluted the courage of the armed forces and the unity of the Indian people.
