Commitment to National Unity: LG Sinha Holds Meeting with Community Leaders

Srinagar, May 10: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Shri Manoj Sinha, today held an important meeting with community and religious leaders, civil society members, and heads of industry and trade organizations at Raj Bhawan. On the occasion, he called for united efforts to strengthen national unity and thwart the adversary’s conspiracy to divide people along religious and sectarian lines.

LG Sinha said, “Jammu and Kashmir is not just a geographical entity; it is a vibrant center of social unity, peace, and brotherhood. The enemy has targeted our sacred places in a desperate attempt to create division. We must rise above religious and sectarian differences and emerge as a formidable force to defeat this conspiracy.”

The Lieutenant Governor further emphasized that it is our collective responsibility to safeguard social harmony and to work together to maintain the resilience and morale of society.
“We do not seek war, but we cannot remain silent over the killings of our innocent civilians. Our forces are giving a befitting reply to the enemy, and the unity and steadfast devotion of the nation will act as a shield and a source of strength for them,” he said.

He reiterated that the Government of India, under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, is determined to take strong action against terrorists and their supporters. “Operation Sindoor” has avenged the brutal killings of innocent civilians in Pahalgam, striking nine terrorist hideouts with precision and restraint.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Reaffirms Commitment to Unity and Safety
During the meeting, Chief Minister Shri Omar Abdullah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of the people and preserving social harmony.
“We will not allow the enemy to create divisions among us,” he stated. He also appealed to civil society and business leaders to report any instances of black-marketing and assured the uninterrupted supply of essential commodities.

Religious and Community Leaders Call for Unity
Various religious and community leaders emphasized messages of unity.
Maulvi Riyaz ul Haq, Imam and Khateeb of Astaan Sharief Hazratbal, stressed that this challenging time reinforces the vital importance of unity, peace, and brotherhood.
Sardar Paramjit Singh, President of Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee Baramulla, strongly condemned Pakistan’s unprovoked shelling of the Gurudwara Sahib in Poonch and urged the Indian government to raise the matter internationally.

“This country is ours, and we belong to this country,” affirmed S. Gurmeet Singh Bali, Secretary of GPC Srinagar.
Business community representatives, including Shri Javid Ahmed Tenga (President, KCCI) and Shri Shahid Kamili (President, FCIK), pledged full support to the administration.

Reverend Vino Koul (All Saints Church, Srinagar), Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi (Anjum Sharie Shian), and Shri Parshotam Lal (Shiv Shakti Sewa Dal) also urged people to stay united.

The meeting concluded with a two-minute silence in memory of civilians killed in the Pahalgam terror attack and those martyred due to unprovoked shelling by Pakistan.

Ministers Ms. Sakina Itoo (Health and Medical Education) and Shri Javed Ahmed Dar (Agriculture Production), Chief Secretary Shri Atal Dulloo, DGP Shri Nalin Prabhat, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, and other senior civil and police officials were also present.
