In a forceful statement issued today, the General Secretariat of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) voiced profound alarm over the escalating security crisis in South Asia, urging the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of India to exercise restraint and swiftly resume diplomatic dialogue.

The OIC emphasized that resolving disputes through peaceful means, in strict adherence to international law and the United Nations Charter, is imperative to preserving peace, security, and stability across the region.

The statement underscored the OIC’s resolute condemnation of terrorism in all its forms, reaffirming the organization’s longstanding stance against such acts.

The General Secretariat also highlighted the OIC’s unwavering commitment to addressing the protracted “Jammu and Kashmir dispute”, a cornerstone of its agenda.

Citing resolutions from the Islamic Summit and the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, the OIC reiterated its call for a peaceful resolution to the issue in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Describing the Jammu and Kashmir question as the “core challenge” to enduring regional stability, the OIC urged the international community to redouble efforts toward a just and lasting settlement.

The General Secretariat stressed that sustained global engagement is critical to fostering dialogue and preventing further deterioration of the volatile situation in South Asia.

The OIC’s appeal comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with the organization positioning itself as a mediator for peace and a proponent of multilateral solutions grounded in international norms.
