The Jammu & Kashmir Regional Branch of the Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA) convened a planning meeting in Srinagar on Saturday to chart its agenda for the next 4–6 months across Srinagar and other districts of the Kashmir Division.
Chaired by Dr. G.N. Qasba (Hon. Vice Chairman, Kashmir), the meeting was attended by senior members including Mr. A.M. Watali (IPS Retd.), Mr. Kh. Bashir Ahmad (IAS Retd.), Prof. Gul Mohammad, Mr. Mir Showkat Ahmad, Mr. Bashir Ahmad, Mr. G.M. Andrabi, and Mr. Shahnawaz Bukhari, JKAS, who joined as a special invitee.
The members resolved to revitalize IIPA’s activities in the region with a focus on governance and public administration. They expressed gratitude to Patron Dr. Ashok Bhan and Chairman Mr. B.R. Sharma for their continued support.
Key discussions included securing suitable accommodation for IIPA events in Srinagar. As an interim option, the use of the Directorate of Information’s Conference Hall was proposed, subject to approval.
Plans were also laid for hosting the Annual Debating Contest by August, along with a public lecture as suggested by former Advisor Mr. Khurshid Ahmad Ganai. Additionally, the Transport Commissioner will be invited to speak on the role of IT in service delivery, and traffic management in Srinagar was highlighted as a critical issue requiring multi-stakeholder engagement.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to hold focused discussions on key governance issues in the coming months.
