Police seized 76 vehicles, 05 houses, 06 shops and land in Kashmir under UAPA

Besides, police Headquarters Jammu and Kashmir has accorded sanction Under UAPA for seizure of a truck used for militant activities.

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday has accorded sanction for seizure of 75 vehicles, (which include mostly four wheelers and two wheelers), 05 houses, 06 shops, land & cash, has also been seized under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, (UAPA).
In exercise of powers conferred by section 25 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 DGP J&K has accorded sanction for seizure of vehicles.

Besides, police Headquarters Jammu and Kashmir has accorded sanction Under UAPA for seizure of a truck used for militant activities.

Under a PHQ order sanction has been accorded to seizure of Truck -10 bearing registration No. JK13-2397, which was used by owner to give shelter to militant, was arrested and huge quantity of explosive substance and arms ammunition were recovered from the truck.

According to the Police statement during the investigation of FIR No. 52/2021 U/S 7/27 Arms Act 18,23,38,39, ULA (P) Act, 4/5 Explosive Substance Act, Police Station Khrew, it came to fore that truck bearing registration no JK13-2397 was used by accused namely Mohammad Shafi Dar S/o Mohammad Akber Dar R/o Gratwali Mohalla Khrew for harbouring and providing shelter to the militants.

“Whereas, evidence collected during the course of investigation reveals that Truck bearing registration No. JK13-2397 is registered in the name of Mushtaq Ahmad Malik and has been sold thrice to different persons and finally the accused namely Mohd Shafi Dar has purchased truck from Firdous Ahmad Sofi S/o Mohd Shaban Sofi R/o Khrew and was being used for harbouring the militants.”

“The Truck has been used to facilitate & promote terrorist activities and thus falls within the ambit of UAPA in terms of Section 2(g) read with Sec. 25 of unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act 1967 and is accordingly liable to be seized in case FIR No. 52/202,” a police statement reads.
