NGO Team Abroo holds drug abuse awareness programme

The audience lauded Team Abroo's effort to curb the drug menace. They also called for holding such programs in future too.

Srinagar, Feb 13 (Only Kashmir): To curb the rising drug menace in Kashmir Valley particularly in Budgam District, an awareness programme “Nayi Subah” was Saturday conducted at Charar-e-Sharif Town Hall by NGO “Team Abroo” in collaboration with Police Station Charar-e-Sharief in which several prominent personalities from different walks of life including a large number of students, teachers, doctors and police officials mark their presence.

Tehsildar Charar-e-Sharif Mubashir Hussain who presided the programme, expressed concern over the rapid rise of drug addiction in Kashmir, he said the drug menace is spreading like wildfire in our society and we aren’t paying attention to it.

Other distinguished guests on the occasion included S.H.O Yasir Rashid, staff members of the Sub District Hospital Charari Sharief. Dr Hilal Ahmad said those who dealing in drug should be dealt with heavy stick yard.

Eminent writer Ghulam Nabi Kumar in his speech said, “The main reason our youth are turning to drugs is the lacking of moral, Islamic and other teachings.” He further said that “there should be programs of corrective nature to equip the common people and others in the society to deal with these drugs and also to keep an eye on the surrounding areas so that nothing is going wrong.

Special guests on the occasion were Baba Gowhar, Sufi Auqib, Rafia Rahim, Shahbaz Gul, Arusha Ashraf, Mushaq Ahmad Wani, Baba Nazar-ul-Islam, Baba Israr.

A cultural program was also presented in the programme. The audience lauded Team Abroo’s effort to curb the drug menace. They also called for holding such programs in future too.

At the end of the program certificates were given by Team Abroo to various organizations and personalities for rendering their contribution to curb the menace.
