J&K Bank’s mismanagement leaves hundreds of job aspirants without examination

A number of candidates from different districts of the valley said that they could reach the examination venue due to the accumulation of snow on the roads.

Srinagar, Jan 3 (Only Kashmir): The ‘mismanagement’ of Jammu and Kashmir Bank today left hundreds of job aspirants for banking associate without examination in the morning shift who visited the winter capital Srinagar from far flung areas of Kashmir Valley amid the heavy snowfall on Sunday.

One of the aspirant from South Kashmir, Yasir Altaf Zargar, talking to Onlykashmir[dot]in said that despite the prediction of heavy snowfall by the weatherman we were expecting that the exams will be postponed, however, there was no such communication by the bank. He said due to heavy snowfall we though managed to reach the centre before the start of examination however, were denied to appear in examination citing the reason “you missed the reporting time.”

Demanding the re-examination particularly for morning shift aspirants, they alleged rude behavior by the official at centers. One of the aspirants said, “amid the heavy snowfall even when Universities postponed the exams the J&K Bank’s decision to go with the examination seems a ploy to avoid the hundreds of aspirants belongs from outside Srinagar.

An aspirant took to the Facebook and wrote, “I paid Rs 1500 to Sumo to visit from Bandipora to Munwarabad Srinagar for appearing examination amid heavy snowfall but unluckily was not allowed to sit in examination for being late by one hour.”

The situation in the morning at around 8 to 8:45 am is completely different than what is now,” the protesters said as they demanded the re-examination for all the candidates who could not make it the venues due to snow. “We are even ready to write exam today,” they added.

Meanwhile a number of candidates from different districts of the valley too said that they couldn’t reach the examination venue due to the accumulation of snow on the roads.

Pertinently, all Kashmir University undergraduate examinations scheduled to be held on January 4, 2021 (Monday) are postponed in view of the inclement weather conditions. New dates for the deferred examinations will be notified separately later, Controller of Examinations Prof Irshad A Nawchoo said in a statement.
