Kashmir: Returned persons allege delay in carrying Corona test

Over 6500 persons have returned to and been shifted into quarantine centres in Srinagar this past week. Of these over 3500 persons have been tested so far.

Srinagar, May 17 (Onlykashmir): The delay in Corona Virus test of returned persons of Kashmir from different states and UTs possesses a major threat to many lives presently in various quarantine centers established in different parts of the Srinagar city.
According to the reports many people who returned from outside Kashmir are left on hotel management’s mercy with no official from health department or civil administration visiting them to conduct Covid-19 tests or to seek feedback about the services being provided to them.
According to the government officials that over 6500 persons have returned to and been shifted into quarantine centres in Srinagar this past week. Of these over 3500 persons have been tested so far and some 1400 of them have been relieved after their tests came negative and their reports were received.
Talking to Onlykashmir[dot]in a group of persons who landed Srinagar on May 13 after travelling from Goa and are presently at Hotel Suliman Heights Dalgate stated that “five days have passed since we returned back to valley, none of the official visited here to hold inspection or sought feedback about the services being provided us, most importantly no test was carried till date.”
One of the fifty quarantined persons in above-said hotel Tariq Ahmad said we want to rejoin our family, however, due to the delay in carrying Corona tests as a result of official apathy, we are left on hotel management’s mercy.
They further added that no proper food was given to us, thus posing a major threat to our lives.
They appealed the government to conduct their tests as early as possible; even if they are asked to pay for it.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary Sunday visited various quarantine centres established in different parts of the city to inspect facilities.
