Massive water logging in Srinagar, admin on toes

Among others, DC Srinagar Shahid Chowdary, Deputy Mayor Sheikh Imran and Commissioner SMC Khurshid Ahmad Sanai took a first-hand assessment of water-logging situation.

Srinagar, Jul 25 (Only Kashmir): The Jammu and Kashmir’s summer capital Srinagar on Thursday witnessed massive waterlogging at different places following few hours of downpour. The downpour though brought much-needed respite from soaring temperatures but caused difficulties to residents due to water-logging in many places.
Reports said the administration came into action instantly by activating dewatering pumps at all locations & deployed sucker machines to combat the situation. 80 Dewatering Stations and 115 mobile units of Drainage Division SMC were engaged in dewatering. UEED activated 10 dewatering stations including 8 around Dal and 1 each at Khanyar and Babdemb.

Reports reaching Onlykashmir[dot]in, that several localities in the Srinagar city were submerged in rainwater on Thursday following a spell of heavy showers in the morning. The main roads at City Center including at Clock Tower, Regal Lane, Residency Road, Hari Singh High Street, parts of Bemina area, Rajbagh-Jawahar Nagar, Mahjoor Nagar, several colonies in Nowgam, Khanyar, Maisuma, Babdemb and other places.
At the time of filing this report, 80% of the submerged areas were cleared. Among others, DC Srinagar Shahid Chowdary, Deputy Mayor Sheikh Imran, Commissioner SMC Khurshid Ahmad Sanai, SSP Traffic Tahir Gilani took a first-hand assessment of water-logging situation.
