Srinagar, Jul 22 (Only Kashmir): Notwithstanding the controversy erupted over the J&K Governor’s remarks wherein he appealed militants to kill corrupt politicians and bureaucrats, former lawmaker Engineer Abdul Rashid on Monday appealed the militants to consider the request of former.
Pertinently, Governor on Sunday had said: “These boys who have picked up guns are killing their own people; they are killing PSOs [Personal Security Officers] and SPOs [Special Police Officers]. Why are you killing them? Kill those who have looted the wealth of Kashmir. Have you killed any of them?”
Commenting on the Governor’s remarks, the former lawmaker Engineer Abdul Rashid on Monday in a video message appealed the militants to pay heed on governor’s plea.
Engineer said we also don’t want militants to kill anybody, adding, there is nothing wrong to seek help from militants like Pakistan seeks help from World to combat Economic Crises. He said the governor should formally ask militants to kill corrupt politicians and bureaucrats as the religion of Islam endorses the fight against corruption.
He said I am not condemning the Governor’s statement, in fact, it is a confession that the state has miserably failed to deal with the corruption in Jammu and Kashmir and Governor have compelled to seek help from militants.
Attacking former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his reaction over the Governor’s statement Engineer said when the residence of his cabinet minister Abdul Rahim Rather was raided why he didn’t utter a word then.
Engineer said when Governor is taking steps to eradicate the corruption from the society we should not take it as a conspiracy rather lending him helping hand.
Pertinent to mention here, Governor Satya Pal Malik today regretting his remark said “As Governor, I should have not made such a comment, but my personal feeling is the same as I said. Many political leaders and big bureaucrats are steeped in corruption here,” Mr. Malik was quoted as saying by ANI.
Earlier on 21st July soon after the Governor made ‘controversial’ remarks National Conference vice-president and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah tweeted “if any mainstream politician or bureaucrat is killed that would be on the express orders of the Governor.”

Reacting to Omar’s tweet, Malik said: “He [Mr. Abdullah] is political juvenile tweeting on everything, see the reaction to his tweets and you will find out.”
He said he had risen from one-and-a-half rooms. “I belong to no dynasty. I don’t cash in on my father or grandfather’s name. I will expose all corrupt in J&K and then leave,” Mr. Malik told ANI.
