The man who buried 2000 Kashmir martyrs is no more

Srinagar, Jul 20 (Only Kashmir): Septuagenarian Haji Habibullah Khan, the caretaker of Valley’s largest martyrs’ graveyard situated in Eidgah Srinagar would laid to rest martyrs of Kashmir since 1989, passes away for heavenly abode on Thursday.
Khan has laid to rest around 2000 martyrs throughout his life including Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq, Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone, and many others prominent personalities.



Khan used to visit the martyrs’ graveyard on daily basis and would offer prayers for them. He remained steadfast towards his duty till his last breath.
A large number of people amid sobs and tears today participated in Khan’s funeral which was led by the chairman of his Hurriyat faction Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
Mirwaiz while highlighting the contributions of deceased said that he was committed soldier and termed his death as death as a great loss.
Muslim Democratic League Chairman Hakim Abdul Rashid was also among pro-freedom leaders who participated in Khan’s funeral. (OK)
