Six including four militants killed in Tral Pulwama encounter

Srinagar, April 24 (KNB): Four militants including two cops were killed in a deadly gunfight between militants and government forces in Kashmir’s Pulwama district at Lam village of Tral on Tuesday.
Sepoy Ajay Kumar of 42 RR, who was injured in the initial firing exchange, succumbed to his injuries at Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Badami Bagh Cantonment area here. Latief Ahmad S/O Ghulam Hassan R/O Tral of Jammu and Kashmir Police also succumbed to injuries.
Reports reaching Kashmir News Bureau that four militants were trapped during a joint operation launched by the Rashtriya Rifles (RR), state police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Lam forest area of Tral.
“The encounter broke out between Indian security forces and the militants in Lam Tral, Pulwama, earlier today after militants fired upon an army patrol from a nearby orchard,” said an official, adding, slain are foreigners while the fourth one is believed to be a local.



During the encounter, incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the spot. The search in the area is going on at the time this report was filed.
Separately the wreath laying of the policeman Latif Gojri was held at DPL Awantipora where among others IGP Kashmir S.P. Pani, DIG SKR Amit Kumar and others SFs participated.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has paid tributes to the two jawans of Army and Police who were killed during an operation at Tral today.
The Chief Minister has extended her heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the slain jawans. She has also conveyed her sympathies to the personnel who were injured in the incident. (KNB)
